This design enables the kit to utilize the factory cold air inlet duct in the fender well while also adding an additional forward-facing area for cool outside air to reach the filter. These cold air dam panels keep the filter isolated from hot engine compartment air, and the sealing is further enhanced with weather stripping placed along the top of the panels. The weather stripping seals against the hood when closed, providing an effective barrier against engine heat.
