Standing on the podium for six straight races is what AIRAID-sponsored driver Jeremy McGrath has accomplished, which has gotten himself that much closer to winning the Pro 2 championship. Heading into Glen Helen, Jeremy has finished with a first and a third each weekend at the last two stops in Wheatland and Reno, giving him four straight podiums as well as leading the points battle ahead of Brian Deegan by a very small margin. He has been able to accomplish this by being prepared for every race. He said, “If my team has the truck ready and prepped early for the race that gives me confidence in my equipment, which gives me confidence in my driving. We do a lot of planning for truck set up, tires, race lines, and overall strategies before we arrive at the track. By the time we get unloaded and set up I'm ready to go racing. The main thing is to be patient on the track and that brings consistency.”

With Glen Helen being a home track for most of the drivers in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, it was going to be that much harder to be on the podium with everyone wanting to win in front of friends and family. But Jeremy had the same pressure with it being close to home. He said, “Glen Helen is one of my favorite tracks and its always a lot of fun, but also pressure being a home race. My results have not been that good here in the past, so I focused on racing the track and not worrying too much about who was around me or the points. I knew we needed to come away from this race with podiums in order to make the last race less stressful.”

Starting off the weekend, Jeremy would take his Maxxis Tires, AIRAID Filters Pro 2 to his qualifying session for Friday night’s race. Jeremy would make some very fast laps just missing first and finishing in second, and with the inversion, Jeremy would start on the second row. Friday night’s race was in front of full grandstands with Jeremy battling in third place the majority of the race. With a few cautions, it kept the top three very close together, and the front two trucks were battling hard with each other. Jeremy played it smart by staying right on their bumpers but not too close to get into any trouble with the other trucks and wait for a mistake by them to make his move. About three-fourths of the way through the race, his patience paid off with the leader over rotating and second place getting into the side and tangling them two together.

With this happening Jeremy was able to make his move for the lead and easily overtake the two trucks. Jeremy would not look behind him and focus only what was ahead of him. He drove clean and fast not giving anyone a chance to catch him all the way to the checkered flag and winning the race. Jeremy said, “It's a good feeling to win races, it’s a great feeling to do it at your home track with a big crowd. What I would really like to see is more races in California. It has such a massive fan base and so many true off-road enthusiasts I hope we have the chance to win more events in So Cal next year.”

Trying to repeat his win from the night prior, Jeremy went out to qualifying trying to be the fastest. But with some cautions during the session he got caught up in some traffic, not allowing him to get a clean lap in and putting him in sixth place. With the race being full of great battles and also several cautions, Jeremy was able to battle his way up to third place and make a strong finish right on the bumper of second place. With this finish, Jeremy has kept his consistency with his first and third, just like the last two weekends, giving him six straight podium finishes.

This also helped with the championship points putting Jeremy in the lead with a thirty-seven point difference between himself and Brian Deegan, and getting as close as you possibly can get without clinching the championship before the last round. He said “It feels great to be getting podium results, not only for me but my team and teammate Brock Heger. We all work together to achieve the success we have had this season. We have been lucky to partner with all the right people to give us the best equipment on the market.

In order to turn gasoline into tire smoke, many things have to happen. First of all, the cam-driven direct injection fuel pump has to maintain pressure at 2,175 psi, so the special piezo injectors can mist fuel directly into the cylinders at precisely the right moment. Air is then pumped in from outside the engine compartment, through the stock Camaro SS intake system. Meet AIRAID Driver Nikki Frost and Her 'Gotta Have It Green' 2013 Mustang GT

Like many car enthusiasts, Nikki Frost grew up playing with Matchbox cars and going to car shows with her dad. She grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, so racing was very much a part of her childhood. As Nikki got older, street racing captured her attention, and she would often compete for bragging rights with her 1995 Ford Taurus SHO. “I love those SHOs because they're such underdogs. And street racing back then wasn't like what you see on these crazy TV shows nowadays.” College and a career soon took center stage in Nikki’s life, but her love of racing returned in 2010 after she met her future husband Keith Fidura. It turns out that Keith was into drag racing, and he took Nikki to her very first professional drag race at the local track. She was immediately hooked on the sport, and eventually became one of the most popular drivers on the NMRA circuit.

It all started in 2012 when the transmission blew on Nikki‘s daily driver. She had become the legal administrator for a successful law firm in Philadelphia, so she decided that it was time to treat herself to a brand new car. Initially, she wanted a Dodge Challenger, but found that it was just too heavy and cumbersome. She looked at the Chevrolet Camaro, but decided against it due to the poor visibility. Then she went for a drive in a Ford Mustang GT, and like Goldilocks, Nikki found the new blue-oval pony car to be “just right“. As luck would have it, Ford had just announced a new color for the 2013 model year called Gotta Have It Green. And Nikki (wait for it) just had to have it! She recalled “As soon as we drove it off the lot, we took it to the local drag strip to see what it could do. Totally stock, it ran 13's. It wasn't anything crazy. So we talked to Brian Ellis over at Vortech and he said they needed an R&D car for their 2013 blower kit, and since the Gotta Have It Green color just came out, it would be the perfect booth car for SEMA. And by me having that opportunity, my husband had to buy one of the other cars that were on the lot, which was the 2013 Ford Mustang GT that I'm racing now.”

Less than a month after buying their Mustangs, Nikki and Keith road tripped them to California to be used as the R&D cars for Vortech’s Coyote 5.0L supercharger kits. Nikki’s Gotta Have It Green 2013 Ford Mustang GT then appeared at the 2013 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. After the car’s publicity duties were complete, she decided to use her new 10-second car to compete in the NMRA (National Mustang Racing Association) drag racing series. Her first race happened in 2014 at the NMRA All-Female Shoot Out in Norwalk, Ohio. She recalled “I placed runner-up in the Shoot Out. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride right?” Nikki then placed runner-up in the 2015 NMRA All-Female Shoot Out at Summit Motorsports Park in Ohio, and at the 2016 All-Female Shoot Out at Maple Grove Raceway in Pennsylvania.

Nikki quipped: “Me and my husband raced one time in the NMRA True Street class, and he won. But I’d thrown my clutch out. But I have been faster in both cars then he has.” Earlier this year, she “commandeered” her husband’s Mustang GT 5.0L, so she could start racing heads up in the Coyote Modified class. “I wanted to build a race car, but I really like my heated seats and stick shift. So I convinced him to let me take his base model GT, rip everything out, and turn it into a race car. I would pay for all of the mods, and he would get a race car out of it. So that's what I'm racing now. It worked out well for both of us.” And indeed it has, because Nikki now sits in 7th place in her class.

All of Nikki’s impressive victory‘s were achieved with a manual transmission. And if you know much about drag racing, then you understand how tricky managing a clutch can be as you’re blasting down that straightaway. So to make her new drag car more competitive, it’s been fitted with a modified Turbo 400 automatic from Transmission Specialties. The Ford 5.0L Coyote V8 has received numerous upgrades, including a Vortech V7 JTB supercharger, capped by a high-flow AIRAID performance air filter. It’s difficult to believe that such a simple device can make an impact on the performance of certain models of 6.2L-powered 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalades, Chevrolet Silverados, and GMC Sierras and Yukons. The concept of a throttle body spacer is based on real science. Lengthening the plenum of the system provides a greater volume of air from which the individual cylinders can draw.

Bombardier Recreational Products, or simply BRP, has a long legacy of innovation with multiple brands of off-road vehicles and watercraft, including Can-Am all-terrain vehicles and Rotax, which builds the engines for almost all BRP products.

The original 435-hp 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was a short-run COPO rocket ship, and it was the fastest model in the Camaro line. It was conceived by an Illinois Chevrolet dealer named Fred Gibb, who used GM’s Central Office Production Order (COPO) system to order 50 1969 Camaro’s, outfitted with the lightweight ZL1 427ci racing engine. This all-aluminum powerplant was 100 lbs lighter than a standard 427 big block, and it had a crazy 12.0:1 compression ratio. The official rating was 430-hp & 450 lb-ft, but many felt that figure to be very underrated.

48 years later, the supercharged 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 was once again the fastest pony car in the General’s stable. This was accomplished by exchanging the previous generation’s 6.2L LSA V8, for the 6.2L LT4 from the C7 Corvette Z06. A massive intercooled supercharger sits atop the big little small block, and shovels in enough air to produce a staggering 650 HP. In order to make power, the 6.2L LT1 intake manifold has been designed to deliver air to the cylinders, with fewer turns and narrow passages. However, the stock Camaro SS intake system is actually full of airflow restrictions. For example, the paper air filter can clog and block airflow, while the ripples in the stock intake tube will cause air to become turbulent. To address these issues, AIRAID developed a pair of Camaro SS cold air intake systems that can deliver an estimated increase of 10-hp & 10 lb-ft of torque. This extra power was measured at the rear wheels, not at the flywheel. And it comes in at lower RPMs. So you will experience stronger off-the-line acceleration (especially when you activate Launch Control) and more passing power at higher RPMs.

The difference between these two AIRAID cold air intake systems is in the air filters. The AIRAID 250-333 MXP performance intake system uses a specially designed SynthaFlow air filter, which is made from multiple layers of oiled cotton gauze and synthetic material, sandwiched between two layers of sturdy wire mesh. The AIRAID 251-333 MXP performance intake system uses a dry SynthaMax performance air filter, which is made from a proprietary synthetic material that can stop dirt particles that are smaller in diameter than a human hair. Like all gas powered engines, your Toyota V8 makes power by burning a mixture of gasoline and oxygen. The energy that's released during the combustion cycle, forces each piston to turn the crankshaft and send rotational energy through the flywheel to the transmission, where hydraulic pressure turns the driveshaft and moves the truck. In order to reducs airflow restrictions, the AIRAID 510-340 MXP cold air intake system replaces the the entire Toyota Tundra intake system, and you won't have to make any underhood modifications to install it. In place of the stock air box is a special high-flow AIRAID MXP air box that pulls more air into the system through the factory inlet hole in the fender. The stock intake tube gets ditched for a low restriction AIRAID intake tube, that has a smooth inner surface to reduce air turbulence (it also has fittings for the factory sensors). The air that this Toyota Tundra performance intake system delivers, first gets cleaned by an oversized AIRAID performance air filter. Unlike that thick paper OE Toyota air filter, the high-flow AIRAID Synthaflow air filter is made from a low restriction cotton gauze and synthetic material that lets more air in, while removing more airborne contaminants before they can reach the engine. The 'depth loading' filter media traps and stores dirt inside a web of oiled fibers, which allows more air to flow through as the miles rack up. The end result of introducing a high volume of cold air to the motor, is an estimated increase of 9-hp & 10 lb-ft of torque.
