Body-wise, from the A-pillar forward and behind the cab, the Raptor is different from other F-150 models with a composite hood and fenders. Its 5.5-foot box is unique to the Raptor as well. Newly-developed leaf springs, wider front upper- and lower-A-arms to increase front track, and a wider, thick-walled rear axle were also developed for the Raptor. Also added was a driver-selected Off Road Mode button which alters ABS, Traction Control, and other functions to a more aggressive setting for driving in low-grip, off road situations.

In fact, almost every component in the suspension and driveline was addressed to deliver robust off-road performance. There was only one thing that let it down: the base engine.

For the Raptor’s introduction, the base engine was the 5.4L V8 which produced a none-to-impressive 310 horsepower. A 411 horsepower 6.2L engine was optional and in 2011 the 6.2L became the sole engine available in the Raptor, with the 5.4L being discontinued.

AIRAID’s air filter assemblies combine a premium AIRAID air filter with an air filter adapter and a cold air dam panel, providing a clean and easy way to mount the filter on a fenderwell, core support, or any other convenient location. Available in 3” (100-201), 3.5” (100-202, 100-211), and 4” (100-203) filter inlet diameters, these assemblies are an effective way to secure the air filter in the engine compartment while providing maximum airflow to the engine. The panels, air filter adapters, and air filters are also available individually. For tight applications, there are also cold air dam panels with a permanent air filter adapter already in place to accept smaller diameter air filters.

Many fuel injection systems need a MAF sensor positioned somewhere in the air intake tract and the UBI product line has options for accommodating them. AIRAID offers an air filter adapter with a built-in MAF sensor mount (160-643) and a machined aluminum MAF sensor tube insert (9701). Both accept common Hitachi MAF sensors and provide a clean, easy way to incorporate a MAF into a custom air intake. Last but certainly not least, there’s an adjustable bracket available (9505) that can be used to support the tube of a custom air intake regardless of the configuration.

AIRAID’s extensive line of UBI components make fabricating an air intake for custom applications a breeze. With the AIRAID UBI system, the only limitation is your imagination!

AIRAID modular air intake tubes (MIT) optimize airflow to the engine by replacing the factory air intake tube. Factory tubes often have accordion shaped walls, sound-cancelling baffles, and undersized tube diameters, all of which hurt airflow. Constructed of cross-linked high-density polyethylene for strength and resistance to heat transfer, AIRAID MIT kits help straighten and improve airflow to the engine while optimizing the location of the mass air sensor. MIT tubes are direct replacements for factory air intake tubes and accommodate all of the factory sensors and fittings that attach to the factory tube. This design provides better throttle response and additional horsepower.

Combine the MIT Tube with a quality drop-in replacement air filter and you have an AIRAID Jr. System. AIRAID drop-in replacement air filters are as easy to install as a paper replacement air filter and they are washable and reusable. Constructed of reinforced polyurethane casings that are guaranteed not to crack or warp while maintaining a positive seal within the factory air box, the air filters are available with traditional oiled media or SynthaMax dry media. Both media types offer excellent filtration without impeding airflow, which allows the engine to breathe easier and run more efficiently.

The AIRAID Jr. system combines the MIT tube with a premium AIRAID drop-in replacement air filter for the factory air intake box to further improve airflow. The drop-in air filter is available with either the SynthaFlow traditional oiled air filter media (400-701) or SynthaMax dry filter media (401-701), both of which are washable and reusable and further improve airflow to the engine.

For those seeking even more performance, AIRAID offers a full cold air dam intake system that is available with or without the bifurcated air intake tube. The cold air dam panels replace the upper half of the factory air intake box, while blade-style weatherstripping seals against the hood to keep hot engine compartment air away from the open-element air filter. The air filter is massive and designed to maximize filter surface area and to supply the engine with a virtually unrestricted supply of cool outside air. Like the drop-in air filters, these open-element filters are available with traditional red oiled filter media (400-101) or SynthaMax dry media in red (401-101), blue (403-101), and black (402-101). When coupled with the air intake tube, the cold air dam system improves horsepower and torque.

AIRAID 100-262 Universal Air Box

AIRAID has designed the 100-262 universal sealed air box to keep the vehicle's air filter isolated from hot engine compartment air. In off-road applications, its sealed air box design helps protect the air inlet from mud and water ingestion. The universal air box assembly incorporates a sealed aluminum lid which helps keep the air filter protected from mud and other contaminants in off-road applications while still offering easy access to the filter for maintenance. The 100-262 is constructed of roto-molded cross-linked polyethylene and it is roughly square-shaped, which enables it to be mounted in a variety of different ways to suit many different custom applications.

Designed to be used in conjunction with AIRAID’s other UBI system components, the 100-262 universal cold air box features a built-in velocity stack to promote airflow along with a premium SynthaFlow oiled air filter that is large enough to feed most popular engine combinations. The air box inlet size is 4” in diameter but can be adapted to work with UBI tubes from 3” to 5” in diameter.

Please note that the UBI universal air box is intended for use with other UBI components that are sold separately. The modular design of the AIRAID UBI product line enables the user to design their own system according to individual needs and it can accommodate thousands of different engine and chassis combinations. With all of the different potential UBI combinations, the only limitation is the user’s imagination!
