2015 Ford Expedition & Lincoln Navigator 3.5L EcoBoost Cold Air Dam Intake (CAD)

2015 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator Cold Air Intake System

The AIRAID CAD system for the 3.5L EcoBoost-powered 2015 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator is simple but offers big performance gains

Turbos have long been used on performance engines as an efficient way to make power. Ford’s new line of EcoBoost V6 engines harness twin turbos to deliver V8 power with V6 fuel economy, and they are extremely popular engine choices in late-model Ford trucks. Rated at a maximum of 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, it’s easy to understand their popularity. The 2015 Ford Expedition and the 2015 Lincoln Navigator are the latest vehicles to benefit from 3.5L EcoBoost engines, and they do an adequate job of getting these big SUVs moving.

Twin turbos demand a lot of air to run at peak efficiency, yet the stock intake system holds them back with restrictive baffles and undersized components. AIRAID Cold Air Dam (CAD) intake system targets the most restrictive portions of the stock intake system to deliver impressive power gains with a simple bolt-on installation. The AIRAID CAD Intake for the 2015 3.5L Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator is a complete kit that substantially increases airflow to the engine. The system retains the lower half of the factory intake box but replaces the upper portion with Cold Air Dam panels.

The 2015 Ford Expedition & Lincoln Navigator EcoBoost Cold Air Dam panels snap into place and create additional room for a massive AIRAID air filter. Blade-style weather stripping is positioned along the top of the panels and seals against the hood to keep the air filter isolated from hot engine compartment air. This design takes advantage of the factory cold air inlet duct in the lower portion of the air box but also adds additional forward-facing areas for unrestricted cool outside air to reach the AIRAID filter.

The 2015 Navigator and Expedition are the latest Ford trucks to benefit from modern EcoBoost powerplants, but these engines can struggle thanks to a restrictive factory intake system

The AIRAID premium filter included with the CAD system for the 3.5L EcoBoost is specially designed and shaped to increase filter surface area to substantially increase airflow. In addition, the filter is available with a variety of colors and types of filter media. The 400-339 CAD system includes a traditional SynthaFlow oiled filter in red. The 401-339 kit includes a filter that utilizes AIRAID SynthaMax dry media in red; the 402-339 system includes a SynthaMax dry filter in black, while the 403-339 system includes a SynthaMax dry filter in blue. All four filter options offer excellent airflow and filtration characteristics, so which filter to use really boils down to personal preference and taste.

Once free-flowing cool outside air is properly filtered, it is fed to the EcoBoost twin turbos with a new bifurcated intake tube. Constructed of roto-molded cross-linked polyethylene, the tube is engineered to eliminate turbulence and optimize airflow to the turbos. New couplers connect the intake tube to the turbos, while a premium hump hose attaches the tube to the filter adapter on the intake box. The hump hose absorbs vibrations from the engine, ensuring a durable, trouble-free connection. There are provisions for all of the necessary sensors and breather tubes, making for a simple upgrade with no modifications needed.

The 400-339, 401-339, 402-339, and 403-339 systems are among the more aggressive-sounding intakes in the AIRAID product line, as the restrictive factory baffles are eliminated in order to increase airflow to the engine. Regardless of which kit you choose, they all improve power and performance as well as part-throttle response on the 2015 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator EcoBoost. Like the rest of AIRAID's product line, these new EcoBoost intake systems are proudly Made in the USA and all AIRAID filters are backed by an exclusive "No Hassle" warranty.
