The AIRAID 250-324 cold air dam air intake system is designed to fit 2009 and 2008 Pontiac G8 automobiles.
Manufactured in Australia, the 2009 Pontiac G8 is a full sized rear-wheel drive sedan that is powered by three different engines –- a 6.0-liter V8 gasoline engine that delivers 355-horsepower, a 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates 415-horsepower, and a 3.6-liter V6 that supplies 265-horsepower. Three transmissions were available to mate with the engines –- a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, and a 5-speed automatic.
The car was available in three styles – the base 4-door sedan, a GT 4-door sedan, and a GXP 4-door sedan. The 3.6-liter engine powers the base 4-door; the 6.0-liter engine drives the GT 4-door; and the 6.2-liter engine runs the GXP 4-door sedan model.
To provide better gas mileage, the V8 has a cylinder deactivation feature that shuts off four of the eight cylinders once the car is cruising at a consistent speed. The V8 has a fuel economy rating of 15-mpg in the city and 24-mpg on the highway. The V6 is rated at 17-mpg city and 25-mpg highway.
The 2008 Pontiac G8 is a rear-wheel drive 4-door sedan or GT 4-door sedan. Two engines were available to power the car –- a 3.6-liter V6 that generates 256-horsepower and a 6.0-liter V8 that delivers 361-horsepower. Two transmissions are available –- a 6-speed automatic and auto manual and a 5-speed automatic and auto-manual. It raced from 0-60 mph in 5.5-seconds.
The 3.6-liter V6 powers the base 4-door sedan and has a fuel economy rating of 17-mpg city and 25-mpg highway. The 6.0-liter V8 drives the GT 4-door sedan model. Its fuel economy rating is 15-mpg highway and 24-mpg city.
This model was the first North American car based on a new platform that was shared with the Chevrolet Camaro. It includes 18-inch aluminum wheels standard. A sport option package was available that replaced the trunk lid lip spoiler with a wing and 19-inch alloy wheels for the GT. The base G8 V6 is equipped with twin chrome tailpipes and red tail lamps. The GT sports quad exhaust pipes and clear-lens taillights.
The AIRAID 250-324 cold air dam air intake system is designed to fit the 2008 and 2009 Pontiac G8. The system features cold air dam panels that protect the huge open-element air inlet and assists to supply a steady, free-flow of cooler outside air into the engine. The panels mount in the factory air box and integrate with any factory cold air inlet ducts that may be present and adds more cold air passages to the filter. The panels isolate the air filter from the hot air of the engine compartment by sealing to the underside of the hood with blade-style weatherstripping.
