AIRAID® MXP® Air Intake System Adds 8 HP to 3.5 L V6 2016 and 2017 Toyota Tacomas

The replacement one-piece roto-molded air box addresses the shortcomings of the OE part

The AIRAID MXP air box incorporates an aluminum lid for easy service of the filter

Toyota has upped the ante in light truck styling with their most recent Tacoma, offering what may well be the most aggressive of all half-ton pickups. If you’ve purchased one of these great looking 2016 or 2017 Toyota Tacomas with the i-FORCE 3.5L V6 engine, you now own a truck that’s as tough and durable as it as stylish.

The 3.5L V6, Toyota’s internal name 2GR-FKS, is an engine that’s both dependable as well as cleverly engineered. It DOHC and 4 valves per cylinder, with fuel delivery via direct-injection. The engine timing is based on the Atkinson-cycle with VVT-iW (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Wide) intake and VVTi (Variable Valve Timing-intelligence) exhaust. The 2GR-FKS produces 278 horsepower.

However, when compared to Chevrolet’s slightly larger 3.6L V6 engine available in the Colorado, the Chevy has a 27 horsepower advantage over the Tacoma.

A fast, simple, and inexpensive way to increase the power of your 3UR-FE engine by an estimated eight rear-wheel horsepower is with the installation of an AIRAID 511-309 MXP air intake system. While eight horsepower is less than the 27 difference between the Chevy and Toyota, keep in mind that comparison is measured at the flywheel. The estimated horsepower gain is at the rear wheels and a significant portion of any engine’s power is consumed by the transmission, differential, and tires when measured at the wheels.

The system air-to-fuel ratios eliminating the need for recalibration after installation.

The AIRAID MXP 511-309 air intake system replaces the stock intake tubing, air filter, and air box

The entire 511-309 AIRAID MXP air intake system is designed to maintain proper mass air flow readings and calibration through the use of extensive computer modeling. Part of the secret is the cold air dam, which is a replacement one-piece roto-molded air box that addresses some of the shortcomings of the restrictive OEM design.

Additionally, this MXP air intake system has a built-in velocity stack, which further promotes airflow. while incoming cold air from outside the vehicle is directed through a new air intake tube with a smooth, low-restriction interior thanks to its construction of cross-linked, high-density polyethylene. The MXP air box incorporates an aluminum lid that shields the air filter from hot engine air and provides easy access to the filter when service is required.

Another critical factor is the AIRAID premium air filter, which is constructed of multiple layers of non-oiled synthetic non-woven filter media. The oil-less filter is highly recommended for everyday street driving. Maintenance of the 511-309 is simple: clean your AIRAID filter with AIRAID 790-558 premium dry filter cleaning solution every 30,000 to 50,000 miles for normal driving, or more frequently if you’re driving off-road or in heavy dust conditions,.

The AIRAID MXP Air Intake System represents the ultimate in AIRAID’s cold air induction system

Everything you need to install an AIRAID 511-309 MXP air intake system is included in the box

Installation of the 511-309 AIRAID MXP air intake system is fast and simple, with highly-detailed instructions. You need only a few basic tools to increase the power and responsiveness of your 3.5L Toyota Tacoma.

Plus the 511-309 MXP air intake system is backed by AIRAID’s “No Hassle” Lifetime Warranty, which is simple. If you are ever dissatisfied with the materials, workmanship or performance of this air filter, call us at 800-498-6951 and we will be happy to assist you. AIRAID Jr. Kit Air Intake Boosts Airflow on 2010-2015 Chevy Camaros

2010 Chevrolet Camaro.

The AIRAID 251-715 fits the 2010-2015 Chevrolet Camaro with the 3.6L V6 and the 6.2L V8

Chevrolet Camaros produced for the 2010 through 2015 model years are the fifth generation of the iconic pony or muscle car that originally wowed the automotive world in the 1960s.

It doesn’t take much to guess that drivers of the fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro favor power and performance. So it makes sense for AIRAID to offer the 251-715 Jr. Kit specifically designed for consumers who are looking for an economical method to enter into the performance aftermarket. The Jr. Kit includes an AIRAID premium direct-fit replacement air filter that features a washable and reusable non-woven synthetic dry media and an AIRAID modular intake tube.

The dry non-woven synthetic media of the air filter features an inner and outer layer of wire mesh for durable support. It is engineered not to deform or collapse under high airflow. The inner filter media has two distinct layers of synthetic materials that work in combination to create superb airflow with low restriction and high filtration. Contaminants are first caught in the outer layer of synthetic needle felt polyester material. The inner layer, which is a wet-laid and chemically bonded combination of rayon and polyester materials, captures any remaining contaminants while continuing to maintain high airflow and low restriction.

AIRAID also offers an air filter cleaning kit that is formulated to cleanse the filter every 30,000 to 50,000 miles of normal driving. This means that there is no need to replace the air filter for the life of the car.

The roto-molded polyethylene intake tube is engineered to reduce restriction by straightening the pathway of airflow to the engine to improve throttle response and ensure a boost in horsepower, torque and acceleration.

The kit is designed to replace the factory air filter and intake tube while retaining the factory air box. It can be installed without drilling using common hand tools.

AIRAID is so sure of the quality of the kit; it backs it with a no-hassle lifetime warranty.

When people talk about the muscle or pony cars of the 1960s one of the cars they are referring to is the Ford Mustang. Originally based on the platform of the second generation North American Ford Falcon, the Mustang was originally introduced in 1962 as a two-seater concept car that evolved into a four-seater concept in 1963 before the production model was unveiled in April 1964 for the 1965 model year.

Two engines were available to power the 1965 Mustang –- a 200-cubic inch six-cylinder that delivered 120-horsepower and a 289-cubic inch V8 that generated 210-horsepower and was offered in hardtop, fastback, and convertible body styles.

From 1967 until 1973 the Mustang got bigger, but not necessarily more powerful. It physically became more massive, which permitted the use of a big block engine for the first time.

In its second generation starting in 1974 and lasting until 1978, Lee Iacocca, the driving force behind the creation of the original Mustang and who by this time was President of Ford, demanded that the car be made smaller and more fuel efficient. When the second-generation model was finally released, it was the same size, shape and had the same overall style as the original 1964 model. In order for it to meet new U.S. Government emission and safety regulations its performance capability was reduced.

Two engines were available to power the 1974 model –- a 2.3-liter I-4 that was used on the Ford Pinto and a 2.8-liter Cologne V6 that also powered the Mercury Capri.

A 302-cubic inch Windsor V8, which had been used to power a version of the first generation Mustang, was re-introduced in the 1975 model year with the C-4 automatic transmission, power brakes, and power steering.

It was available in coupe and hatchback and there was also a Ghia Model, the so-called “luxury” variants, that was designed by Ghia of Italy, which had recently been acquired by Ford.

The third-generation Mustang was introduced in 1979. It was based on the platform that was originally developed for the 1978 Ford Fairmont and Mercury Zephyr. Despite a smaller rear seat, the car could accommodate four people. Body styles included a coupe, notchback, hatchback, and convertible. Trim levels included L. GL, GLX, LX, GT, GTS, Turbo GT, GT-350, SVO, Cobra, Cobra R, and Ghia. The engines that powered the third-generation models included electronic fuel injection rather than a carburetor.

The fourth generation Mustang was unveiled in 1994 and it was the result of the first major redesign in 15 years.

A 3.8 OHV V6 that generated 145-bhp in 1994 and 1995 and 150-bhp in 1996 through 1998 powered the cars. The powertrain included a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 4-speed automatic.

The 1999 model featured a 3.8-liter V6 with a new split-port induction system was the standard engine and delivered 190 bhp. A 3.9-liter variant of the Essex engine replaced the 3.8-liter V6 in 2004. Models that were available during the fourth generation included the Bullitt, Mach 1 and the Cobra, the first Mustang to feature an independent rear suspension.

The fifth-generation Mustangs were manufactured from 2005 through 2014. A cast-iron block 4.0-liter SOHC V6, which generated 210-horsepower, powered the cars from 2005 to 2010. Mustangs released in 2010 and beyond featured a new 3.72-liter (227-cubic inch) aluminum block V6 engine that produced 305-horsepower and 280 lb-ft (380 N-m) of torque.

GT models featured a 32-volve 5.0-liter (302.13-cubic inch) engine known as the Coyote that produced 412-horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. A 5.4-liter supercharged V8 aluminum block V8 that offered 550-horsepower and 510 lb-ft (690N-m) of torque powered the GT500.

In 2012 a new Mustang Boss 302 model was introduced with an engine that delivered 444-horsepower and 380 lb-ft (520 N-m) of torque.

An upgrade of the fifth-generation Mustang was introduced in the second quarter of 2012. The Shelby GT500 featured a new 5.8-liter supercharged V8 that produced 662-horsepower. Shelby and Boss engines included a 6-speed manual transmission.

AIRAID is offering the 851-500 replacement air filter for 2010-2014 Ford Mustangs. The drop-in filter features a multiple layered dry filter media and is designed to replace the factory paper air filter. Engineered to deliver higher airflow with less restriction, the filter is washable and reusable and backed with a Lifetime Guarantee as well as a No Hassle Warranty.

The AIRAID 851-500 Replacement Air Filter is designed for the following vehicle applications.

Boost Low-RPM Torque in Your 2016 Camaro V6 with a POWERAID Throttle Body Spacer

The AIRAID 250-609 POWERAID Throttle Body Spacer comes with all the mounting hardware you'll nee

The AIRAID 250-609 POWERAID throttle body spacer comes with all the mounting hardware you'll need

Back in 1969, you could buy an entry level Chevy Camaro SS for $3,023 ($19,911 in today's money), and it would be equipped with a 350 ci V8 that made a staggering 300-hp. That was a lot of pony power back then, and it could propel this 3,400 lb Mustang-fighter to 60 mph in just 6.8 ticks. Fast forward nearly 50 years and the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro can be equipped with a 335-hp 3.6L V6, and galloping to 60 mph takes just 5.1 seconds. No matter how you look at it, that's an incredible advancement. The all-new 6th generation 2016 Camaro V6 also gets considerably more miles-to-the-gallon than the 1969's 10 mpg, and the optional dual-mode exhaust system can really make this brute sing. But if you want to increase your torque between 800-3,000 RPM, then you're going to need an AIRAID 250-609 POWERAID throttle body spacer.

The 3.6L V6 in your 2016 Chevy Camaro uses a wide range of cutting edge technology to squeeze V8 power from just 6 cylinders. One of these hi-tech power extractors is the direct injection system, which sprays a precise mist of fuel into each cylinder so it can mix with the air more thoroughly before detonation (known as atomization). This potent air/fuel mixture creates a stronger detonation, which results in more power. If you want to increase the effectiveness of the Chevy direct injection system, you need to increase the velocity of the air going into the cylinders. That way the oxygen molecules will become more evenly distributed, which increases their ability to blend with the fuel molecules. To do this, the AIRAID 250-609 throttle body spacer has a special 'helix bore' that causes the air to spin as it exits the intake tube. This causes the air to swirl around inside the cylinder, creating a sort of vortex that sucks in the fuel mist, mixing the two together more completely.

A 250-609 POWERAID Throttle Body Spacer installed on a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 3.6L V6

Think of it this way, if you squirt chocolate syrup into a glass of milk while you stir it, you're going to create a much richer glass of chocolate milk, than if you just dumped in the chocolate and tried to smush out all the lumps. Translate that into a fuel/air mixture, and the richer blend will create a hotter detonation, which pushes the cylinder down with more force, turning the crankshaft and ultimately the wheels. This additional torque will be available lower in the rev-band and less throttle input will be needed to reach it. So from 800-3,000 RPM, the 250-609 POWERAID throttle body spacer will give your 2016 Camaro V6 much sharper throttle response, and it'll accelerate faster from a stop and on part-throttle. Plus, it takes less than an hour to install, and it's backed by the AIRAID No-Hassle Lifetime Warranty.

Proudly Made in the U.S.A., just like your Camaro, the AIRAID POWERAID 250-609 throttle body spacer is CNC machined from a billet of aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum, and features an attractive red anodized finish. The proprietary helix bore was engineered for the specific airflow requirements of the 2016 Camaro 3.6L V6, and it can be installed with no under-hood modifications.

Vic Edelbrock Jr.'s daughter, Camee, sharing an uplifting message from her mom and dad

This past weekend we stepped into Vic’s Garage at the famed Edelbrock Museum to be a part of NMCA West’s 2016 Championship Awards Ceremony honoring the fastest and finest that the West Coast has to offer.

NMCA West Street Car Nationals is entering its 6th season and features 12 drag classes for racers to compete in from Sportsman to Pro Comp and everything in between. As part of this amazing 4 race series held at the Autoclub Speedway in Fontana, California, NMCA West & Hotchkis Sports Suspension will bring back the Hotchkis Cup Auto X Series presented by Nitto, that has been such a huge success as part of this series.

The evening started with a couple hundred autocross competitors and racers, plus dozens of series sponsors enjoying Vic Edelbrock Jr.’s Museum and Car Collection in Torrance, California. Steve Wolcott of Promedia Events, the NMCA Series Promoter, was on hand to get the party started. He had the distinct honor of introducing the series' major sponsors and of course the man of the hour, the events host and emcee Brian Lohnes, the Co-Creator of Bangshift, announcer for NHRA and the NHRA on Fox Pro Mod Show. Close to 150 awards were given in recognition for the racers achievements.

AIRAID driver Jordan Priestley shares a few words or experience and quite a few "thank yous"

You may recall that our AIRAID-sponsored team driver, Jordan Priestley managed to compete in more than 25 different events in his AIRAID equipped 6th Gen Camaro “Evilynn”. With 4 successful NMCA West Hotchkis Cup Auto X Series events under his belt, Priestley walked away with the Modern Muscle Class Championship as well as the grand prize, the coveted Hotchkis Cup and the title of Hotchkis Cup Auto X Series Champion. To be eligible to win the Hotchkis Cup Auto X Series Championship a competitor must participate in all 4 two-day events and be consistent, consistently fast that is, yielding the greatest number of points to keep them at the top. That is the equivalent to 8 days of racing autocross with some of the series' most capable and talented drivers. In addition, your ride needs to keep up on all 8 days! For some folks, 8 events equals an entire race season. Not for Jordan! Our AIRAID team driver managed to race 20 other events, some of which were also 2-day events.

Here’s a look at all of the 2016 NMCA West Hotchkis Cup Auto X Series Champions:
