AIRAID’s Jeremy McGrath Looks Back On 2015 LOORRS Season In Preparation For 2016

Supercross Champ Jeremy McGrath and JM2 short course truck team

7-time Supercross Champ Jeremy McGrath is now both the owner and driver of the AIRAID Performance Filters sponsored Jeremy McGrath Motorsports (JM2) short course truck team

Supercross legends Ricky Johnson & Jeremy McGrath both race LOORRS

Much like fellow Supercross legend Ricky Johnson, off-road racing behind the wheel of a Pro2 truck in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series seems to have taken its hold on Jeremy McGrath

AIRAID, The Performance Intake Company, was founded in 1997 during the same time frame that AIRAID sponsored racer Jeremy McGrath was sitting on top of the world of Supercross. Jeremy McGrath is one of the most famous athletes in the history of Supercross and, figuratively speaking, owned the sport during the 1990’s. 1997 withstanding, McGrath was the King of Supercross winning the 250SX championship title 7-times between 1993 and 2000.

Jeremy McGrath has dabbled in several forms of motorsports, including NASCAR, since retiring from Supercross racing. However, much like fellow Supercross legend Ricky Johnson, off-road racing behind the wheel of a Pro2 truck in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS) seems to have taken its hold on McGrath. Jeremy McGrath is now both the owner and driver of the AIRAID Performance Filters sponsored Jeremy McGrath Motorsports (JM2) short course truck team.

AIRAID Air Intakes supported Jeremy McGrath won LOORRS Salt Lake

The 2015 LOORRS season was full of both ups and downs for the AIRAID Air Intakes supported JM2 team, including Jeremy McGrath’s first win as both team owner and driver

The 2015 LOORRS season was full of both ups and downs for the AIRAID Air Intakes supported JM2 team. McGrath and his team started out strong in the 2015 season earning four consecutive podium finishes early on. That streak ended at the first of two LOORRS rounds in Salt Lake City, Utah because of on track contact with fellow racer Rob MacCachren. Not to be discouraged, McGrath and the JM2 team quickly put the truck in the winner’s circle the next day, earning Jeremy his first win as owner and driver.

Leaving Salt Lake City, Utah the Jeremy McGrath Motorsports team felt confident in their ability to make a run at claiming the 2015 championship. However, the second half of the LOORRS 2015 season didn’t play out as expected by Jeremy. The following round, at Glen Helen Raceway in Devore, California, McGrath could only manage a 6th place finish. The trip to Mexico for JM2 was plagued with mechanical issues, and after that McGrath was involved in the biggest wreck of the season in Reno, Nevada.

Unfortunately the drama didn’t end in Reno, and neither would the JM2 team’s need to completely rebuild McGrath's Pro2 truck. In the second to last race of the 2015 LOORRS season a disastrous fuel fire ended McGrath’s night and once again forced the JM2 team to work hard repairing the truck. In the final race of the 2015 LOORRS season McGrath finished just outside the podium, but it was strong enough to secure a fifth place overall finish in the series.

2016 Lucas Oil season to start in March at Wild Horse Pass

The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, and Jeremy McGrath Motorsports, will kick off its 2016 season on March 19-20, 2016 at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona

Looking back on the 2015 LOORRS season, Jeremy McGrath had this to say, “I am happy with the overall results of the season. My team worked great together and never gave up when things got tough. We started strong with 5 podiums and a WIN! We learned so much this year and will have that knowledge going into next season. We are already back in the shop testing and developing a better truck for next year. I could not do it without great partners like Loctite, Fuel Off-Road, Maxxis tires, Airaid, Traxxas, Blue Media and everyone who supports this team."

The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS) was formed in 2009, picking up where the Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) series ended in 2008. LOORRS is a short course off-road racing series, and while it offers many classes, its premier classes are the Unlimited 4 (4-wheel-drive) Pro 4 and Unlimited 2 (2-wheel-drive) Pro 2 trophy truck classes. Addressing its fans, the JM2 team released a statement saying, “The entire JM2 Team would like to thank their families, friends and sponsors for all the support. Racing is in our blood and we want to win more than ever! We look forward to seeing everyone at Rd 1 in Phoenix AZ.” The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series will kick off its 2016 season on March 19-20, 2016 at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona.
