AIRAID engineers utilize CAD design and 3D scanning technologies to develop all MXP air intake systems. This ensures a smooth flow of air into your engine.
The Chevrolet/GMC Duramax LLY is a 6,599 cc (402.7 CID) turbocharged diesel V8 engine that debuted in mid-2004 and continued to be available in select Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks until the end of 2005.
Installation of the 202-229 MXP air intake system on an LLY Duramax is both professional-looking and purposeful.
The LLY Duramax features four valves per cylinder in aluminum cylinder heads and iron block. To lower emissions, GM installed a newly developed variable geometry vane Garrett turbocharger. Bore and Stroke are close to square, at 4.06 in (103 mm) x 3.90 in (99 mm) respectably, indicating the intent of co-developer Isuzu and GM for the engine to be as tractable on the highway as off. The 2004-2005 Duramax LLY produced 305 horsepower and 605 lb-ft of torque.
The very next year, GM introduced the upgraded LBZ engine which produced 360 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, a significant improvement over the LLY. Owners of an LLY-powered Sierra or Silverado can make up some of that horsepower and torque with AIRAID MXP air intake system 202-229.
The AIRAID MXP air intake system represents the ultimate application of AIRAID’s cold air induction technology. The system delivers higher levels of horsepower and improved acceleration for Duramax LLY-powered Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD models.
The entire 202-229 system is designed using extensive computer modeling to maintain proper mass air flow readings and calibration. Part of the magic is the replacement one-piece roto-molded air box that addresses all the shortcomings of the restrictive factory design.
Another critical factor is the AIRAID premium air filter that’s housed inside the air box providing outstanding air flow and filtration through its reusable, dry, non-woven synthetic filter media. Clean your AIRAID filter every 30,000 to 50,000 miles for normal driving, or more often for off-road and heavy dust conditions with the AIRAID premium dry filter cleaning solution 790-558.
Incoming cold air from outside the vehicle is directed through a new air intake tube with smooth, low-restriction walls thanks to its construction of cross-linked, high-density polyethylene. This MXP air intake system also has provisions for the factory mass air sensor and filter minder gauge, so there’s no need to recalibrate your truck’s ECU.
Installation is of the AIRAID 202-229 cold air intake is straightforward and simple, with highly-detailed instructions. You need only a few basic hand tools and around an hour and a half to increase the power and responsiveness of your LLY-powered Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD or GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD truck.
And something not all cold air intake system manufacturers can claim, the 202-229 AIRAID MXP air intake system is street legal in all US states with CARB EO number: D-609-18.
The 202-229 MXP air intake system is backed by AIRAID’s “No Hassle” Lifetime Warranty, which is simple. If you are ever dissatisfied with the materials, workmanship, or performance of this air filter, just give us a call at 800-498-6951 and we will be happy to assist you. You don’t have to worry about a warranty card. AIRAID filters are warranted for life.
